GDM, a Coesia company, and a global leader in designing and manufacturing high performance solutions for the disposable hygiene industry, is launching UP Plus, an innovative platform set to redefine underpad converting. With a strong focus on efficiency and cost-effectiveness, GDM continues to develop cutting-edge solutions that enhance productivity and elevate product quality in the disposable hygiene sector. UP Plus addressing the rising need for high-performance underpads in both adult incontinence and pet care segments. The platform allows manufacturers to differentiate their products through superior absorption, enhanced structural integrity, and optimized material usage. The global underpad market was valued at $111,6 million in 2023 and is expected to grow at a CAGR of 6% until 2029, according to Price Hanna Consultants. This growth is driven by an aging population, increased demand in healthcare facilities and a rise in pet ownership. North America and Europe continue to hold the largest market share, while Japan is experiencing a growing demand for premium hygiene solutions. As consumers increasingly prioritize quality and value for money, UP Plus provides a reliable solution that balances performance with cost-efficiency. Its versatility supports a wide range of applications, from hospital-grade underpads to premium pet training pads, offering the flexibility to produce various sizes and configurations. With reduced downtime, manufacturers can efficiently meet the diverse demands of the market while maintaining optimal production efficiency. UP Plus is powered by GDM’s Core+ technology, an advanced core formation process integrating fluff with Super Absorbent Polymer (SAP) to create a homogeneous, thinner, and more stable core. This innovation enhances absorption, improves product stability, and minimizes material usage. By optimizing material distribution within the core, UP Plus ensures a more uniform absorption pattern, reducing leakage risks and delivering superior performance even during extended use. Additionally, the enhanced core structure improves user comfort, making it particularly well-suited for medical applications and premium underpad products. The platform is available in two configurations to meet different production needs: the UP5 Plus, which operates at 500 pieces per minute or 300 meters per minute, and the UP7 Plus, reaching 750 pieces per minute or 450 meters per minute. These configurations allow manufacturers to scale production according to demand while maintaining high levels of efficiency and quality control. The UP Plus platform enables manufacturers to achieve up to 30% savings on product costs, depending on the core formulation. These savings result from reduced raw material consumption, higher production speeds, and enhanced overall process efficiency. Additionally, the Zero Time (Option Zero) feature, powered by e-cam technology, minimizes downtime by enabling rapid size changes and greater operational flexibility, allowing manufacturers to swiftly adapt production to market demands with minimal disruption. The thinner product design also translates into cost savings in packaging, transportation, and storage. The reduced bulk of each underpad allows for more units to be shipped at once, lowering logistics expenses and enhancing supply chain efficiency. UP Plus leverages advanced SAP and fluff core formation to enhance absorbency while reducing production costs. This innovative core technology improves liquid retention and minimizes leakage risks, ensuring superior performance in real-world applications. GDM will officially launch its new UP Plus platform at IDEA25, which will be held later this month at the Miami Beach Convention Center.
